![]() ![]() By default, cellular data is set to “off” on the iPhone and Google Music Android app. ![]() As with any mobile phone, the best 3G/4G streaming occurs where the best reception is, but we usually stuck with Wi-Fi when it came to streaming media. On both an Android handset and an iPhone, Google Music, Amazon MP3, and iOS's Music app started up songs instantaneously. If the original file is a higher bit rate in iTunes, iTunes Match will stream at that rate (Amazon does not have a similar offer, however.) For our portable devices, streaming over Wi-Fi was definitely more successful than streaming over 3G. Amazon does so at the same bit rate as iTunes, but in MP3 format. Google Music streams matched songs at 320kbps, while iTunes streams them in AAC format at 256kbps. ![]()
